Hi Maureen,
I've been writing the method following Swanson's example, but only got as far as reporting additonal criteria for study inclusion. I don't really think that at this point I can coherently write about anything beyond data collection until I do more work with setting up the tables and famiarizing myself with more of this process. Is anyone else stuck like me?

Group Design?
Hi Maureen,
Would two classrooms (one recieving an intervention the other not) within a school district be considered group design or are these groups too big? I'll send you the article but I would be interested to know as I keep looking...

Topic Ideas
Hi everyone,
Now that I'm a little less tired today, I've been able to kick around a few more ideas. Maureen, can you help me figure out what might be the most feasible and if there are specific things/interventions that I should be searching for?
Here were some of the things I was thinking about:
1. Joint book reading (Maureen, you suggested this one and I realize that I am interested in relation to parent-child interactions).
2. Whether we should have early identification programs and if they can predict achievement (I'm not sure about any specific ones).
3. School-based interventions to enhance the self-concept of children with learning disabilities.
4. Emergent writing and the role of name writing.
Feedback from others would be great too.
New Topic Idea
As I was tossing and turning in my sleep a new topic came to me that was inspired by class last night. Could I compare Reading Interventions (Fast Forword, Reading recovery, small group instruction) and their effects on reading ability? I'm guessing there are a lot of studies out there, just wondering if the right types of studies would be out there. I'll be looking into it but if you can let me know your thoughts Maureen, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

More ideas...
I've been looking through journals a lot tonight to find articles, and some other possible topics for your meta could be:
a) effects of living in institutional/foster care on children's acheivement/health ec.
b) long term efficiacy of early intervention programs.
c) relations between theory of mind and social competence at different ages.
d) relations between context and development of self in children of different ages.
I'll keep posting...if you have ideas, why don't you post them as well???
cheers,
Maureen

Coding in Excel
Hi everyone,
I don't think that I like long distance learning...not when I leave just about everything I own at home. Thanks to your very gentle, kind requests, I realize that before I left, I didn't send out the excel file to you with the codes for entering the data! So I will do this on Wednesday night when I get home. If you don't have time to do it before Monday, then we will do it in class.
I truly appreciate all your patience with this!!!
Best wishes,
Maureen
